1. Two methods were used for the analysis of vinegar sample from the same processor. The first, which was the traditional acid/base titration, gave results of 5.002, 5.005, 4.997, and 4.997% acetic acid. The second, which involved an automated coloumetric titration, gave results of 5.013, 5.009, 5.007, 5.020, and 5.017% acetic acid. Considering the above data, determine if (a) there is a significant difference in the values for the means at the 95% confidence level; and (b) Is either methods significantly more precise than the standard method given in Food and Drug Administration regulations (the population standard deviation (6) in this regulation has been determined to be 0.003 % acetic acid) at 95% confidence level? Write H, and H.
