This week's discussion board will focus on cancer, a topic verynear and dear to my heart, as I lost my first husband in hisearly 30's to stage IV brain cancer, so I not only have a lot ofexperience professionally but also personally in thisspace.

We all know or have known someone touched by the deadlycondition. It's a very devastating disease that affectsmillions of lives per year. Still, we don't have a stronghandle on how exactly some cancers form in the body and what theyare caused from- still determined to be "unknown". Nutritionis extremely critical though, to prevent cancer, but moreimportantly if you have developed it, to help aid in healingthroughout the treatment process. Surgery, radiation andchemotherapy can all take an extreme toll on the body and there area lot of side effects patients experience which render themmalnourished. You can choose to discuss an important type ofsupplement or food that cancer patients should focus on to assisttheir body through treatments OR choose to discuss an alternativetherapy that individuals use to combat side effects of thetreatment and how that is tied to their nutrition.
