DNA replication 1. To mimic DNA replication, unzip your DNA. Pull the edges of the model outward until the sheet is flat. 2. Draw nucleotides (and appropriate bases) to the empty boxes next to each template strand. Keep an eye on the orientation of your nucleotides! Remember that the template strands are the two strands of nucleotides from your original DNA molecule! 3. You have just completed DNA replication and have two strands of DNA. Each molecule of DNA that you created in this exercise is half template strand and half new strand of nucleotides (the ones you drew). • Compare the sequence (order of nucleotide bases) of the two strands of nucleotides in one DNA molecule (Compare the left and right sides of the same molecule.)
